Baby shower

For parents-to-be, and for the friends throwing the baby shower.

Sage, dusty rose and soft light: warm, understated invitations for a baby shower.

All 10 invitations
Gift Box The guest slides the lid off the linen box; underneath lie tissue paper, a knitted cardigan and the card with your names. Special Delivery A layered paper cut: the stork flies above the rooftops and the clouds, a bundle in its beak. The guest pulls the bundle down, the knot comes loose, and the card floats out. Hot-Air Balloon The guest releases the sandbag: the balloon rises slowly from the meadow at dawn, and the card unfurls beneath the basket. Ball of Wool A sage-green ball of wool on a dark walnut table. The guest pulls the loose end: the ball spins as it unwinds, the yarn runs around, and it traces the card with your names. Cloud Mobile The guest gives the cloud mobile a gentle flick: it turns slowly, and the card hanging on its thread turns to face us. Moonlight It’s night in the nursery; the guest switches on the night light, and warm light floods the chest of drawers and the card. Dandelion A golden-hour meadow, a card pegged on hemp twine; the guest blows the dandelion, and the seeds drift past the card. Forest Clearing A dawn forest made of paper: the guest folds back the ferns in the foreground to reveal a misty clearing, a fox peeps out from behind a birch trunk, and the card is beside it. Secret In the middle of the card is a patch of scratch-off gold foil: the guest scratches it away with a finger and discovers who you’re expecting. Nursery Window Morning in the nursery: the guest draws back the linen curtain, sunlight pours in, a cherry branch blossoms outside, and the card waits on the sill.

Children’s birthday

The parents choose, the child is the star.

From a paper theatre to a painted cake: invitations that look lovely to grown-up eyes too, and ones made especially for children.

All 10 invitations
Paper Theatre The guest draws back the velvet curtain: the paper scenery lights up, and a hot-air balloon rises above the hills. Painted Cake The guest taps to blow out the candles: the flames go out one by one, smoke rises, and the wish floats upward in spots of light. Circus The guest draws apart the striped canvas: the two flaps lift, the spotlight comes on inside, and there in the middle of the ring is the invitation. Treasure Chest The guest taps the padlock: the shackle springs open, the padlock drops, the iron-bound lid lifts, and there among the gleam of gold coins and jewels is the invitation. Rocket The guest taps: the countdown starts, the tin rocket lifts off, trailing stardust behind it, and there on the full moon is the invitation. Balloons The guest lets go of the ribbon: the glossy balloons and the number balloon float slowly up to the ceiling, and the invitation is left leaning against the wall. Wildlife Park The guest parts the lush leaves: they bend to either side, a giraffe peeps out, and beside it on a wooden sign is the invitation. Fairy Garden The guest touches the garden: on the old tree’s branch the bulbs of the fairy lights come on one by one, the candles are lit, moths fly into the light, and there on the laid table is the invitation. Jigsaw Thick, painted wooden puzzle pieces scattered on a walnut table. The guest taps: one after another the pieces glide softly into place in the tray, and the picture comes together, with the invitation on it. Paper Castle A deep blue cloth-bound storybook on the tablecloth. The guest turns to the left: the cover flips over, the paper castle rises from the page layer by layer, the drawbridge lowers, and at the front the card with the invitation stands up.
